We had a great time celebrating Avery's first birthday. We had a small party with family and a few friends - grilling out, playing in the yard and of course, eating cake and opening presents. Avery LOVED her cake and is still loving her new toys and books!

The last week and a half of June we went to Florida to participate in General Assembly (a big meeting for the Church of the Nazarene) and while we were there we took a day to go to Disney's Magic Kingdom. It ended up being a very rainy day, so Avery only got to do a few rides before it got too wet and soggy. Mommy and Daddy went back to the park in the evening and left Avery with Grandma. We had a great time and look forward to taking Avery back some day so she can REALLY enjoy it.

Avery had her first time at the pool this year. She was a little unsure at first, but got used to the water and had a great time. Every day that we go back she gets a little braver and really is at a point that she has no fear. She's a dare-devil.

Avery's latest achievement has been walking. She's been taking steps for a few weeks now, but has really gotten the hang of things in the past week. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the first wobbly steps on video, but here's a video of her walking this morning, still a little unsteady, but doing pretty well. Sorry for the blurry-ness. We used the cell phone...
I can tell she is going to be a little monkey and she'll probably end up with lots of bumps and bruises. She likes to push her Cozy Coupe car around to where she wants to climb, crawls inside the car and out the back window to get up on whatever she's aiming for (ie-the coffee table, couch, tv stand, etc). I guess that's all part of being a toddler. Which, by the way, I hate that word and I miss my baby - somedays it would be really nice to go back to the days of sitting Avery in one spot, leaving the room for 10 seconds and finding her in the same spot when I come back...but we are having lots of fun watching her become a little girl. I feel like if I blink too long, I'll miss something!

So, that should bring us current on the happenings of our family...well, really the happenings of Avery! :)
