Oregon 2009

Well, despite lots of snow and blizzard like conditions in Kansas City on Christmas day, we managed to fly out on time without any delay or problems. Avery did pretty good traveling, but had a hard time settling down to take a nap on the plane. Mommy was very tired after working all night Christmas Eve, but we finally made it to Grandma June's house by dinner time. Avery was so happy to see our family. She had been practicing saying "Oregon" and "Grandma June" on our flight. She was especially happy to see her Momo after 5 long days apart. Avery opened a present from Momo and Papa and entertained all the family for a bit before finally crashing for the night.




On Saturday afternoon, the Rowell clan all gathered for our Christmas celebration/reunion. Avery had fun meeting some of and playing with her cousins. We had a great time visiting with our family and especially enjoyed the Christmas nativity play and a special visit from Santa Claus.



Monday, we took a day trip to Newport to visit the Oregon coast and Grandma June's beach house. We ate lunch at Mo's and had yummy clam chowder and marionberry cobbler. After lunch we went to the beach house and headed down to the water. It was a PERFECT day at the coast - sunny with very little wind. This was Avery's first time to see the ocean and as you will be able to see from the videos and pictures, she ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! In fact she was quite upset with mommy when we decided it was time to head back to the house for nap time.
